Google has to use satelite photos from outside sources. If Google’s license to use that image ran out, they may have to use older images they have on file. Also, GE uses higher resolution images over more recent images. If one area has high res, they will use it, regardless of the date. You’re not alone, however, many people (including me) have old images which don’t show half the things they should.

Google Earth is right. The modern official line for 0 degrees longitude is not the same as the old one, not since 1983. The separation is about 102.5 meters.

This shift is a legacy of the first satellite navigation system, the Doppler based TRANSIT system developed in the U.S in the early 1960′s. In order to show up in google search results you need to be added to their site index. This usually happens by being scanned by googlebot. It looks like facebook recently signed a deal with google that will allow them to scan public profiles.
