Your Questions About Affiliate Marketing Blog

Steven asks…

Advertising on a WordPress Blog?

I recently became aware that you are not allowed to advertise or have affiliates in any way while using a blog at wordpress.com. I have searched the internet over for a question that no one has been able to answer so far. That question is:

If you use a host that you pay for, to host your blog- like godaddy or something, will wordpress still nuke you? I need to know this because I am dissatisfied using blogspot.com where my blog is currently at. I used to use WP but now want to switch back- but I don’t want to sacrifice my affiliates or advertising because I am using my blog for e-commerce and affiliate marketing purposes.

WordPress states, “Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted on WordPress.com blogs*. If you would like to run ads on your blog, please look into running your own copy of WordPress with one of our hosting partners.”

^Does this mean that you can just set up a host and grab your own domain and they wont nuke you?

Any help would be great, and I really appreciate it.

Natalia Popovici answers:

WordPress.com doesn’t allow ads. But if you install your own copy of WordPress on a host, you can use ads.

Anyway, i want to start a new blog, the blog will mostly be about how to make money online with subjects such as article writing, article marketing, general marketing, affiliate marketing, blogging, possibly CPA, will not include PTC, PTS, MLM, and those types of methods.

Is it possible to hide/cloak an affiliate ID link without owning a website?

url shortners like tinyurl and bit.ly only shortens the url but it doesn’t hide the referrer once you click the shortened link. Is it possible to hide/cloak an affiliate ID link without owning a website? Most cloaking softwares and methods only work if you have a website or blog. Unfortunately I don’t have one. I use article marketing.

Should i start a blog for my affiliate marketing?

This is really a two part question. Should i start a blog to help me out with my clickbank or whatever affiliate marketing site i use, (can it be about anything)? Also are the blogs supposed to help you out with affiliate marketing or is it the other way around? Which one supplements the other? also should i get a good blog going first, get some traffic then start using clickbank affiliate marketing or should i just try to do both at the same time? my bad that was more like 3 questions. Anyway im new to this so what do you think?

Natalia Popovici answers:

Yes, definitely…blogging is where it’s at, there aren’t too many businesses that aren’t blogging…check this out http://www.dailyonlinemarketinggroup.com

Your Questions About Affiliate Marketing Blog

William asks…

Affiliate Marketing Is Becoming a Joke?

I am not trying to troll or anything, but it seems so impossible for me to have visitors to my website. I tried these methods:

Social networks like FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, Delicious
Digg, Reddit, etc.,

Blog entries like WordPress, Squidoo, HubPages and Live Journal.

Other methods like traffic exchange, traffic generators, 1 way links, 3 way links, search directories, ads, banners, and backlinks.

Is Affiliate marketing is even real? I have been studying this for almost 7 months with 0 sells. There are over 500+ million users on FaceBook and I can’t get attention from any of them. Making many tweets on Twitter makes no process for me. I am out of ideas. Are there any free email marketing anywhere?

This is my website: http://www.toryshellclick.co.cc/

Natalia Popovici answers:

I hate to say this but if you have worked so hard and still have no traffic or sales then i have to ask is there a market for your product or service?
Do research into highly searched for keywords in your industry, there are many websites that can help you. Then make a list of these pages and then start to create pages specifically around these keywords, if you do it right and have good SEO you should soon start to see traffic.

Remember one of the definitions of madness is doing the same task repeatedly and expecting a different result.

Michael asks…

How do I get started in Affiliate Marketing?

Alright I need help on where to start out as an affiliate marketer. I am a beginner but, I do know how affiliate marketing works.

I’m actually a member of wealthy affiliate and I’m on like my 3rd week of training but, I want to kinda get started in some things since I kinda know some things there telling me.

I just want to know how I go about doing this. Like as far as a website goes. Should I set up a website or blog? like I need help with that aspect of the business. Like how do I set up a website or where do I start? I just want to get started.
People don’t spam me with your little sites and try and con money from someone. I need genuine help. Not your little scam sites.

Natalia Popovici answers:

You can start with a free blog at blogspot or WordPress if you like, although later on you’ll probably want to get a hosting account of your own (I recommend Hostgator — it’s like $4.95 a month for the most basic option).

If you’re just itching to get some money coming on, there are a number of products you can promote that are set up to deposit your commissions directly into your PayPal account at the time of sale. (If you don’t have a PayPal account yet, I urge you to set one up ASAP.)

Check out the link in the box below, I have a list of 200 products you can start selling immediately and get paid in your PayPal. While you shouldn’tuse something like this as a long-term cornerstone of your online business, it is a great way to get some extra money coming in quickly while you work on your long-term goals.

John asks…

Affiliate marketing question(s) for a beginner. Experts please help if can.?

1. Once I put a “link” to the product on my blog website, do I earn commission for each product that is sold or just the first one?
2. My web site is unknown. How do I attract an audience?
3. Why do I need to go through a 3rd party affiliate network like clickbank or commission junction in order to promote products? Do they take part of your commission away? Can’t I just work directly with the vendors?

Thank you :)

Natalia Popovici answers:

1) Normally, you will earn commission from every sale of a product that comes through your link. The affiliate network, whether it’s clickbank or CJ or shareasale or whomever, will send you checks on a published schedule for your sales. Nice thing is – that’s ALL you have to do. You don’t need to turn in orders, handle money and payments and orders – just cause traffic and sales through your site.

2) You’ll need to get your site known. One way is to answer questions here and on other forums and include in your profile or your posts, your signature box, including the address of your website. IMPORTANT: When you answer questions, give the best answer you know how to give, and as thorough as you know how, because you want people to know that you KNOW what you’re talking about. Then, they will possibly want to know more and click on your site. So, it’s good for you AND it’s good for them..

3) As I mentioned in answer #1, by going through the affiliate network, you don’t have to deal with anything except marketing of your website that has the links to the product. If you deal directly with the product provider, (which you CAN DO), then you have to be responsible to the provider for your orders, collections of money and payments, refunds, etc., etc., and so on.

The small amount the networks charge before your commission is WELL WORTH it to you, as you do your job and they just send you money.

While you can deal directly with the product provider, some of them won’t deal with you because you’re unknown and – frankly, may not pay for goods ordered, or follow through and deliver to your customer. The affiliate network makes sure there aren’t problems either with you getting your money, or with the customer getting his/her product.

It’s a very, very good system, and I’ve been using it for several years.

Sandy asks…

Does anyone know where I can source some top quality info on securing joint ventures online?

I have a blog and affiliate marketing business and I am creating two ebook systems on growing your business online and getting social media traffic. I want to approach possible JV partners but I need the best approach – I want to learn from an internet marketing guru who walks the talk. What do you recommend? Thanks :)

Natalia Popovici answers:

The approach I would take is to simply start emailing them. I have done it in the past with decent success, and I have found that many successful marketers are very nice people!

John asks…

Do people who blog as a full-time career need business licensing?

I’m just wondering if all of those people who blog for a living, as a full-time career thing, if they need any kind of business licensing from their state or government in order to get paid for it. Technically bloggers are like freelance writers, except they get more of their money through advertising and affiliate marketing or something, so . . . I’m just confused. Do bloggers need some kind of license or permission beyond tax reports?

Natalia Popovici answers:

No. They just have to put it on their taxes.

Linda asks…

Internet Affiliate Marketing Revenue?

Assuming I create an attractive website with 10 to 15 pages of informative content and useful links how much money can be generated during the first 6 months, year, 2 years, etc. Also, how much does a blog increase traffic and therefore revenue.? Thanks.

Natalia Popovici answers:

The key is is there a market for the product you created and it is a must to do a market research.

If there is no demand and also the market is not responsive to your offer, whatever you do is wasted.

It is like you have invented the best product you think the world want, but it is only you think so

Lastly even you know there is market there, are you able to access the market and find ways to position yourself as a solution provider

I hope these answer will help you to reassess how you want to approach affiliate marketing

How to get a niche in affiliate marketing?

For example, many people are promoting weight loss products but where do they get the contents to write about? Do they actually buy the products first to test it out themselves before pitching for it?

I have interests in a wide variety of things but I don’t know about a specific thing well enough to write a whole blog about it. How is it possible to start this way?

What the first steps to starting affiliate marketing? Is it finding a niche, getting a web hosting site for a blog, then blogging about the products? What’s google adsense and what does bidding for words mean?

Natalia Popovici answers:

Well if your interesting in trying out products then that would be great. I work for a health and wellness business and you get the products and you can blog about them if you want and let everyone know how great they are. Email me for details.

How Do I Market Affiliate Products Without A Website ?

I’d like to get into affiliate marketing but it seems all the programs require you to have a website for you to stick their banners on.

I do however blog alot and am wondering if there are any blog hosting sites that would allow me to advertise my programs?

Are there any other ways to market products without having a website?

I

Natalia Popovici answers:

Hey Wendell,

First of all, it is not necessary to have your website to start doing Affiliate marketing. There are so many companies and product who is ready to give you a website for Free and you do not have to waste your time and money on doing that. The only thing you will have to do is to drive traffic to that website and count the money.

It is not that simple as it looks like, so do not expect to get thousands dollars in first months, like one person told here before. Yes it is true that you can make a hell a lot of money in affiliate marketing but you have to work for that and spend time.

The program which is offering you free website and product to advertise and paying huge commisions is Clickbank.com you can watch some videos on youtube. It is very popular program and free to join, and there are a lot of free tutorials and sources available: forums, youtube and blogs. So you can easily get necessary information to start.

You can write me an e-mail and we can keep in touch.

Good luck

Best Affiliate Marketing Blogs?

Hi,

I’m a newbie to affiliate marketing, and have been learning a lot by following Andy Michael’s blog (www.andymichaelsblog.com). Nonetheless, I know that there’s always more to learn. Anyone have any good suggestions for other useful resources for the newb to pick up ideas?

Thanks!

Natalia Popovici answers:

Sign up with the major affiliate programs.

Linda asks…

What is the best affiliate program for a website blog?

I have sign up for a couple, but I really want something that allows the website to do the work and simple implements its marketing strategy. Any recommendations?
Thanks for the responses so far. I’m really looking for an affiliate program that I kind of add my site to and they add their advertisements. It never has made sense to have to do all of your own programming and additions when its their advertisements, obviously both parties benefit, but I’m not much on data programming nor willing to spend the time on something that may take minutes for someone else.

Natalia Popovici answers:

There’s a website design place (they work internationally) that gives $19.75 to $74.75 per sale. They give you a code, like iu98hgf or something, that allows people to get a website made for half price (which is good, so people will want it). You just give your code to people and when your code is used you get money sent to you. I post my code on blogs and Facebook.

Steven asks…

Affiliate marketing works?

Has anybody had moderate or great success through affiliate marketing? I can’t invest any money right now, and the free blog and ad sites aren’t working…anyone got a secret they could share?

Natalia Popovici answers:

Ryuk,

she said she wasn’t having any luck with the adsense route. But to be honest, if you’re not having luck with adsense chances are you are going to have trouble with affiliate marketing because like someone said you need to have a website that is receive lots of targeted traffic for a specific niche to be successful with affiliate marketing.

One thing you can do with affiliate marketing is write reviews about the products that you’re trying to sell for commission and posting those reviews on your blog and in ezines and article submission sites with a link back to your affiliate page so people will read about the product and come buy them from you. I’ve had success with that method.

I use a new site made by Jason DeVelvis, a 24 year old whiz kid who’s made a LOT of money online and you can find his site here (it is my affiliate link): https://www.SaleFlurry.com/5/streak_tlu

If you need to make a little easy income to re-invest into a domain name/hosting, etc I suggest you try GPT sites, especially reputable ones that can be found and reviewed here:

Your Questions About Affiliate Marketing

Mary asks…

As an online merchant looking to use affiliate marketing networks, do you get to choose your channel?

I am researching online affiliate marketing. Say I am looking to sell something online. Let’s also say I want to leverage affiliate marketing networks to advertise my product. As the merchant, is it common to have the ability to choose which type of advertising channel you are marketed to or is it more like a shotgun blast across the internet?

Or is it the other way around… do the affiliates choose what is eventually advertised by their site?

Natalia Popovici answers:

In http://www.FlexOffeers.com, as a merchant yes you can determine who joins your program and ultimately represents you online and what type of advertising will be allowed.

Helen asks…

Is it possible to have an affiliate marketing blog that is free, and still earns you money?

Or do I need to pay for a more ‘professional’ blog domain?

Also: Is it worth it to be an affiliate marketer? How much could I earn with a free blog, working part-time on it, and not paying anything to increase my blog search rankings? Is running an affiliate marketing blog a worthwhile thing (financially) to do when I can only do it part-time – or is it something that needs a full time worker?

Natalia Popovici answers:

If you are just starting out and don’t have a budget to get a domain name and hosting then I would suggest doing a combination of building websites on places like wordpress.com and also submitting relevant articles on places like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, and more. This should be a good start to help you learn more about internet marketing as it takes awhile to get used to all of the tips and tricks involved to make a large profit. I have personally known people who are making $100+ a day without having their own website which isn’t huge money but to many it is a great extra income.

Donald asks…

Which affiliate marketing networks can I make the most money from?

I have been using Clickbank for affiliate marketing products for the past 4 months and I just made the payout last week since you have to have 5 different transactions to get your first payout. I only do affiliate marketing part-time on 3 blogs and 1 niche website, but I would love to eventually do it as a full-time job and make more than $75 a month to do so. For people who have experience with different affiliate marketing networks, which one do you see the most sales and income from?

Natalia Popovici answers:

Like you, I used Clickbank for the first 5 months I did affiliate marketing and made about $200 a month. I just did not find many of the products that great to try to sell and most did not convert very well. So, I did some research and found this guy named Matt Bacak who brought to my attention that Clickbank is not the only affiliate network out there. This Bacak guy is actually a millionaire and offers great advice if you want to check him out – www.mattbacak.com.

I joined a couple of different affiliate marketing networks such as Commission Junction, Share A Sale, and Clix Galore. I can’t really say which one is going to make you the most money since I don’t know what kind of products that you want to promote, but here is what I do to get the most out of my affiliate marketing sites.

I check the networks to see what kind of products they have based on the keywords I have chosen for my site. Then, I compare them to see which product or service looks the best and which one has the history of doing the best. Then, I pick that product and go with it for at least 1-2 months and then re-evaluate it to see if one of the other products may be better.

Sometimes I find that Commission Junction is the best and other times it may be Share A Sale that makes me the most money. It all depends on what type of product that you want to try to sell and what topic it is on. Do your research and don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Oh, and I have been doing affiliate marketing now for almost a year full-time after getting laid off and I have now reached the same amount of monthly income that I had at my engineering job, so you can make full-time AM your goal and success can be achieved.

Daniel asks…

Can one use a blog to do affiliate marketing?

I would like to do affiliate marketing with some stock market software that I really like. Can a blog be used toward this end?

Yes you can do this with a blog.
As Far as a tutorial is concerned Here is the extremely Short version:

Susan asks…

How can I make money blogging? What is the best blog?

I want to make money by writing online. What’s the best way to do this? Affiliate marketing?

What is the best blog/host to make money on?

Natalia Popovici answers:

If you don’t have your own product, the easiest way to earn money online is affiliate marketing.
There are many different ways to go about affiliate marketing. Most cost some money to implement but one of the easiest ones for new marketers (and one of the few that doesn’t cost a penny) is known as article marketing or bum marketing. This is the practice of writing articles or blogs about a product, providing links to it.

A lot of new marketers end up losing a lot of money trying costly techniques that they didn’t need to, not knowing there are free ways to market. The fact that you were already planning to use writing to earn money means you are a step ahead of these others.

The first thing you need to do is find a product you feel is lucrative, this is usually one that provides a solution to a common problem a lot of people have. Ideally, the product should also be one you are fairly knowledgeable about, that way you can talk about it and inform others easily. You can find tons of products to affiliate for on Clickbank.

When you find the product you want, you’ll get a hoplink. Now you can sign up on an article/blog site like Squidoo or Blogger. Here you can write articles for free and in them, include your hoplink. When readers follow your links and buy the product, you get paid commission. Simple as that.

Now keep in mind that there is a right and wrong way to write and article. This is the reason why some people bank off of articles while others see 1 or 2 readers per month and no sales. A site that really helped me out when i first started is 404 reviews

http://www.404reviews.com

They have a guide book that explains not only what article marketing is, but they also talk about a bunch of other methods as well. They have a detailed step by step of how to best set up each of the methods (including articles). They talk about what to look out for and how to optimize each method as well. This includes SEO. They quite literally cover all the bases for everything pertaining to internet marketing. Check them out

Ruth asks…

Just starting out in Affiliate Marketing, can anyone give some beginners advice (not just links?

I have opened an account with ClickBank and I have downloaded the Affiliate Masters Course e-book as well as the SiteSell e-book. I am just looking for some helpful advice on how to get started and some tips on how to be successful with it.

I am not looking for any links on affiliate marketing–I’ve seen just about all of them. But if you have your own website or blog as an affiliate marketer, I would love to take a look at it to see first hand what it looks like.

I know that to be successful with this you have to put in a lot of time–this I have, I do not work or go to school, and I really want to be successful with this.

If anyone considers themself a mentor in this field, I would really appreciate your help!!!! Thanks.

Natalia Popovici answers:

Hi Kell – welcome to the world of affiliate marketing!

I spent many years doing affiliate marketing poorly so I’ll share some of my experiences.

(1.) Be sure you have a PROFESSIONAL looking website. I have a website sitting at http://www.xspirulina.com that I paid someone in Serbia $50 to do. The purpose of the site was to see if the product would sell and at what price. Well, about 50% of the people who got to the first page left. Why? I don’t know for sure but my guess is because it looks like I paid $50 for it.

(2.) Do some research on SEO or pay someone to do it. This is worth GOLD. If no one can find your site then you’re not going to sell any items.

(3.) Have a good understanding of Adwords before diving in. I spent a fortune on Adwords when I first started without much to show for it. Why? Because I had a rosey outlook for things like conversion rates.

(4.) Know that very few people make a fortune at this. If you work hard and long — 5 or 6 hours a week for a full year — you’ll start to see returns. I’m an affiliate with Overstock.com and my website http://www.eHalfOff.com (or the redesign I’m working on at http://www.eHalfOff.com/online-shopping) makes about $0.04 per visitor I bring to my site. I hope to double or triple that with my redesign.

(5.) Know how people are finding you. It took me the better part of a year to achieve a high ranking for the phrase: discount shopping for eHalfOff.com. Most of my customers find me using this phrase. However, in the past 90 days, customers have found my site using over 500 different keywords and phrases. I use this data to help me determine which words and phrases to target next. You never know when you’ll stumble across a word or phrase that works well.

Good luck to you!

John asks…

I need opinions about Affiliate Marketing prospects.?

I have started working with a few programs that offer Affiliate Marketing training, and was inundated with so much information that I was overwhelmed and haven’t started any blog or web site yet. I’m not sure which programs I should stay with and which I should cancel because they don’t seem too helpful.

Do any of you professionals have advice for me as to the process and priorities, as well as which programs are the best?

I have a web site that I want to promote under children’s safety: http://www.keep-safelockbox.com, and thought I would add links and maybe a page for articles on keeping children safe. However, I also want to have a blog or web site for retirees with several pages on different subjects that can promote other affiliates. Which is better–a blog or web site for that purpose?
Thanks for any help.

Natalia Popovici answers:

The most successful affiliate websites are those websites that choose affiliate programs that their audience need and want. Affiliate programs work best if they are integrated into the site — not the main and only focus of the site.

This is especially true for affiliate programs that even provide web pages to their affiliates — which means that if they have 1,000 affiliates then you will have 999 competitors offering the same products with the same exact website (with a minor variations here and there). Plus, you will be competing with the main company as well.

Think of Amazon.com and its affiliate program. There are hundreds of thousands of Amazon affiliates selling books and other products for Amazon. If the site owner simply creates a website with books of Amazon — without some value added — people will not bother to visit his site. So income will be minimal at most.

The key is for your site to create value added that visitors will want to come that is unique. If visitors will want to buy books, for example, why would they come to YOU instead of going straight to Amazon? Why go to an affiliate when they can go to the real deal?

You’re on the right track with your plan to include articles (the more original the better). If you want to promote several affiliates, think of a theme for your site that will link them together — or create different websites.

The benefit of a website relative to a blog is the flexibility in terms of layout that it provides. Blogs are more limited.

If you review goods and services on your blogs then affiliate marketing isn’t a bad approach. Ken asks…

Please share ways to help with affiliate marketing. I now have CJ, Clickbank and Adsense.?

Is it worth the effort, please send some helpful links. Maybe a page of an affiliate‘s blog with hoplinks.

Natalia Popovici answers:

There is a blog out there called”blogging to the bank” and therre is also a product called the same thing. Just type that title into google to find out information about making money with your blog. I just got an email today that “blogging to the bank 3.0″ is a new product and it seems like something worth looking into. People in this program are making over $3000 a month with their blogs.

My tip to you is when your blog starts to receive traffic start selling advertising space to places like”buysellads” “adbrite” “blogads” and if you start to get thousands of visitors every month then sell space to “traffic.” These are all great places to sell advertising space.

Hope this helps

Marketing Revenue: Blog or Website?

I have a great idea for a website that compiles information from other websites, media, and word of mouth. The information I research is public, so I’m pretty sure it is legal to copy it and paste into mine?

I am not sure if i should start a blog, or website (with maybe a blog). The site will be rich in content and needed to be updated frequently and user interaction would be great! So a blog would sound like an ideal choice but my main focus here is TO MAKE MONEY through advertising such as Affiliate Marketing and Adsense. What would be the ideal choice here to maximize my profit?

Also, can you explain how affiliate marketing works in detail? Or any other methods of revenue-generating marketing!!!!

Thank You.

Affiliate sales are a huge part of making money online. Affiliate advertising is what’s driving much of the Web economy. With billions of dollars up for grabs online, there’s no reason not to start making affiliate sales and earning money online.

It’s nearly impossible to make money online being an affiliate without a blog or site. What you need to is choose products that have a definite audience. Affiliate sales are a numbers game. There’s a lot of competition and a lot of products to be sold. You need to choose items that have a large possible customer base as well as items that don’t have too much competition. Search the Internet and see where the items are being sold. If there are pages and pages of results, the item may been over-saturated in the market. Even great affiliate marketing won’t make much of a dent if over-saturation is at play.

Put together an affiliate marketing website where you can display your affiliate links. The links are what your customers will use to buy products. For each item they buy through one of your custom affiliate links, you will get a specific portion of the sale. Each company determines their own commission percentage. Put plenty of information about the topic on the site- not just the links. People won’t be intrigued by a page of links with nothing more.

Drive people to your website or your links by placing your own articles in article directories and on blogs and other websites. These articles will help you by containing an affiliate link at the end of them that points to your website.

Hire a Web writer to write the articles if you have trouble writing professional-quality articles or if you don’t have the time to do so. You can also buy private label rights articles. These give you the rights to use the articles any way you wish and to change the articles to better fit your website.

Keep promoting your website. It takes time and effort to make affiliate marketing into a successful business. To get the largest number of customers you can, you have to have steady website traffic. You may also want to pay for affiliate advertising like pay per click ads. Try purchasing banner ads on a well-known website or using AdWords pay per click ads to promote your site.

Heres a great website with all the affiliate secrets, tips and strategies which will teach you how to make money, increase sales and promote your product, anything just for two dollars, amazing site highly recommend it: http://s-ebookstore.com

Affiliate Product Marketing, choose product first or niche???

When setting up an affiliate marketing blog should I choose a product from the Affiliate list first or should i think of my niche then try to find the affiliate product??? thanks on any help you can give.

Natalia Popovici answers:

Choosing a niche first would give you a headstart.
Choose a niche with low competition and good demand and
then choose the top selling product in that niche.

Ken asks…

When promoting an affiliate product through article marketing…?

…should one put a link in the “article resource box” to one’s affiliate-marketing blog for that product, or directly to the vendor’s sales page?

Natalia Popovici answers:

Hi John,

You could certainly do either of those but normally I’d recommend linking to your own site as you have much more control over it.

Firstly, many people sending people straight to the vendor will include an ugly looking affiliate url in the bio box. This then shouts ‘affiliate link’ and so many people will not click it just for that reason. You could of course use a redirect script to get around that problem.

Secondly, sending a visitor straight to the vendor means you lose any chance of collecting the visitors information so you can promote to them again in the future whereas sending them to your own site or even directly to your own squeeze page gives you this chance.

Robert asks…

Asking about affiliate marketing with my blog…?

Okay…I had already asked a question a few days before about why my blog doesn’t come up when I used the Google search engine, even though I have entered my website’s whole address (copy pasted) into the search box…

I reviewed the answers, and I found out that my website actually does come up inside of Google…

And now, to be totally honest…I’m actually using my blog for affiliate marketing for a certain website…and I think I get the drill on how to use the blog for it…my only problem is…I can’t seem to make my website to show inside the normal Google search engine (you know, the www.google.com place…) cause that’s the place where people search for things, right?

Can anybody help me on this? Oh yeah, I had already aired the website since late October…

Natalia Popovici answers:

Hi buddy!

Well, appearing on the first page of search results especially on Google is an interesting approach. It may seem too complicated, but after you learn some basics, it will get much easier.

The process of making web pages shown on the search engines is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and is a step-by-step process. Do it properly and you will come up on the first page very soon!

First of all, you need to choose a main keyword which is related to your website topic. A keyword that is not too broad and general, is searched accross the Internet many times and has very low competition. Some keyword research tools may give you the needed datas. That´s why it is recommended to select your keywords before you build your web pages.

Then, put that main keyword on some parts of your website. This is called On-Page Optimization. Put it on your domain name or sub domain name, put it on your Title tag, add it to your meta tags (Keywords and Description). Put it on your web page in some important places such as Headings, first and last paragraphs, as bold and italic fonts, and of course in your text. But don´t EVER try to use those keywords aggressively in your content. It will harm your SEO efforts and Search Engines will find it out and ban you instantly. NEVER try to abuse the system or spam!

Now, it is time to get backlins to your website (Off-Page Optimization). Try to choose websites that are related to your topic and have high PageRank. You should have your site published on other websites as anchor text. Meaning that your link on other sites may look like as a text including your main keywords instead of a link.

The more web pages link to your site, the higher positions your site will get according to that keyword. But, like I said before, the first step is to research and find the best related keywords to your site´s topic. You may find some datas on free keyword tools such as Overture and Google Keyword Tool, but I would prefer to use some paid tools that give me a lot of data about my site topic.

Ken asks…

New at affiliate marketing. Which blog or site builder should I use.?

I need a easy to use site builder.
I will be using Amazon & Ebay links. Any help??

Natalia Popovici answers:

Hey Tommy!

It rather depends on your personal level of technical skill here. The top three options that come to mind would be …

1) Blogger.com — Very easy to use. Just set-up a free account and start bloggin’! The downside to this option would be the lack of control you have over your site. You can’t add scripts or much in the way of customization. Plus, they could decide to cancel you at any time without warning.

2) WordPress — With this option you would register your own domain name and buy your own hosting and then you’re free to do pretty much anything your heart desires! It requires a little bit of technical knowledge but not as much as building everything from scratch. This is probably your best bet.

3) SiteSell — This can be a little costly (about $300?) but they provide absolutely every tool you could ever want all in one package. Vast amount of online help available and forums filled with people willing to help you. Good newbie package. Many successful affiliate marketers started here.

My best advice is to pick one and stick with it until you start making your first dollars online. You can expand from there.

Regards,
–JR Rich

Chris asks…

How do I do Affiliate Marketing? Which Companies? Or, on my own Blog?

How do I get started with Affiliate Marketing? There are companies? Which ones do I sign up with? And do I need to have my own website or Blog to do this? Please help me understand.

Thank You,
Kaloni

Natalia Popovici answers:

Start reading a bit and learning on how affiliate marketing works.

You don’t need your own website or blog. You can do direct linking from AdWords or article marketing.

Start with Clickbank and Commission Junction. Then, when you’re comfortable look at other affiliate networks.
